Suck on These: Part 1

It's been a while and I have a lot of dope tracks that I wanted to share but it was too much for one post. So instead I've decided to split them up into two. Recently I've been listening to a lot of hip hop and rnb. So this post will cover those genres and the next will be everything else grouped together.

First up we have one of my favs., hometown hero Drizzy Drake. Off of his mixtape Young Sweet Jones 2, track number 16: Greatness. His smooth flow compliments an even smoother beat. Id like to see Jay go off on this one.

Greatness - Drake

Next we have something off of Mar Variations. Netherlands vocalist Mar is apparently releasing a different variation of a popular song every month on his website marvariations.net. The one that caught my attention is his take on Lil Wayne's Single. Check it out and let it take over your speakers and genitals.

I'm Single (Lil Wayne cover) - Mar

N.E.R.D. has a new song! That's good. But someone other than them produced it. That's bad. It was Daft Punk that produced it! That's good. But the song comes with a curse! That's bad. But it comes with a free frogurt! That's good. The frogurt is also cursed. That's bad. But you get your choice of toppings. That's good! The toppings contain potassium benzoate...That's bad. Anyways now that I've made my simpsons halloween reference. Here is the damn track.

Hypnotize You - N.E.R.D. (Produced by Daft Punk)

Kid Cudderrrrrrrr. Switchin' up the flow and goin a little faster here really works well with this beat. It just clicks. Hope he does more like dis one hyere! (last sentence to be spoken in tone of Leo Dicaprio's fakie south african accent from Blood Diamond).

Switchin Lanes - Kid Cudi

You ready for some west coast gangsta shit?! Game feat. Dre and Busta. When I heard the track I instantly liked it and you will too...if not, game will come to your home and murder you.

Shot Down - The Game feat. Dre and Busta Rhymes

50!!!!!! Man I love this guy. He's so easy to hate, its part of why I like him. Get Rich or Die Tryin' is the main reason why I love the guy though. That album got worrrrnn out on my cd player. Thats right, cd player. Bumped the shit out of that album. Anyways here is a new track from mah dood that im feelin'

They Burn Me - 50 Cent

Ya know I couldn't go long without posting a mash-up. Hood Internet back at it again with a smooth mixdown of Andre 3000 and John Legend vs Local Natives. Seriously does Hood Internet ever not deliver?

Cards and Quarters and Green Lights - The Hood Internet (Andre 3000/John Legend vs. Local Natives)

Nicki motherfuckin' Minaj. Either you love her or hate her. Either way shes here and slaying some serious rappers on their own tracks. Here is one of hers:

700's - Nicki Minaj feat. St. Laz

Warning: Highly addictive song. Chris "Ladies Man" Brown beating this song down like it was his girlfriend. Oh and he brought some friends with him. Kanye West, T.I., Drake, Rick Ross, Fabolous and Andre 3000. Need I say more? This is the extended version and also 0:37 - 0:57 of this song is tooooo good.

Deuces (Extended Version) - Chris Brown feat. Drake, T.I., Kanye West, Fabolous, Rick Ross and Andre 3000

Stay tuned for Suck on These Part 2

"Octobers Very Cold" - Drake vs Coldplay

Well as you may or may not know, Drake's debut album So Far Gone was one of the biggest if not the biggest album of last year. It was an instant classic and since then Drake has become one of the biggest commodities in hip-hop today. With the release of his new album Thank Me Later, there has been a lot of Drake activity on the blogs. I wanted to do a post on here with some of the leaks but figured it would just get taken down. However instead I bring you October's Very Cold. In the spirit of the Grey Album, it is a mash-up album of strictly Coldplay and Drake. Produced by Chi Duly this is definitely one to pick up.

Track 2: Trouble's Over

Track 3: Lose Your Love

Track 9: The Fly Scientist feat. Page & Silver Medallion

There is no download links because you can pick up the entire album for free from October's Very Cold

Covers and Mash-up Post!!!

Just been hearing a lot of covers and mash-ups recently and figured I throw them all in one post. Seriously there are some greats here that I dont think a lot of people have heard so make sure to check them all out.

To start things off is a cover of a Black Eyed Peas song. You all have heard this song and one day it will be the soundtrack to a mass murder when someone snaps from hearing it all the time. I am Noxious totally turns the song on its head and turns it into an indie anthem.

"I Gotta Feeling" - I am Noxious

"Promiscuous With You" - Party Ben (Nelly Furtado, Timbaland vs Michael Jackson)

I heard this song while walking in the park with my earbuds in, and it instantly put me in a good mood. I would like to post the song on here but last time I put a Party Ben track on, it got removed almost instantly so instead ill just tell you how to get it. Party Ben has a website where he features all his tracks, so just go there. Here is the link for the song: http://www.partyben.com/PartyBen-PromiscuousWithYou.mp3
I normally wouldnt put it up if I had to do it this way but this track is just too good.

Snoooop! Snooop-A-Loop! How about some Crowded House vs Snoop Dogg? Yes please.

Return of the Weather Episode - Go Home Productions (Snoop Dogg/Dr. Dre vs Crowded House)

Dj Lobsterdust really hits it on the head with this sombre mix. I didn't like it the first time I heard it, but it REALLY grew on me. Maybe not a song to dance too but still amazing none the less.

"Same Old Uniform" - Dj Lobsterdust (Bloc Party vs Four Tops)

If I told you that Chromeo did a cover song, you probably wouldnt guess it would be the Eagles. So they did exactly that, taking on I Cant Tell You Why. I however can tell you why this song works though. ITS FUCKING CHROMEO COVERING THE EAGLES. Enjoy this Zapp and Rogerish cover.

"I Can't Tell You Why" - Chromeo (Eagles Cover)

New Playlist

Time to create a new playlist for your ipods...

Not much more can be said about mash-up Gods STV SLV and ABX over at Hood Internet. Here is their take on Drake.

"(This Shit Was) All I Know" (Hood Internet Mash-up) - Drake vs. Free Energy

The Hood Internet - (This Shit Was) All I Know [Drake x Free Energy] by hoodinternet

This song sounds like it got the treatment from the Twelves. Great song, unique voice, fat beat.

"Salt Air" (Jupiter Remix) - Chew Lips

Imagine if Breakbot had a flux capacitor or was born 30 years ago. This is the music we would hear from him.

"So Ruff, So Tuff" - Zapp & Roger

Incredible. That is all.

Jay-Z: The Remixes

There are so many bloody remixes on the web of this guys catalogue its hard to know where to start. Everybody and their mother has remixed a hov' song, so it can be overwhelming deciding which ones to check out. This list is meant as a starting point and will hopefully let you see some of his classics in a new light.

The first remix I have is off of Dj. Lt. Dans The Black Remixes: Back to the Basics. Unfortunately I can no longer find where to download this, but if you know where to get it throw it on the comments. The song Allure, originally produced by Neptunes was given the Carlitos Way treatment. Meant to evoke the same emotions and imagery as the movie did. What Lt. Dan does is completely strip it of the Neptunes touch and creates a classic cruising song. With smooth horn samples, this jazzy number will be bumping on your playlists in no time.

Next we have a track off of Mick Boogie Presents: Brooklyn Soul. Produced by Shuko and The Gunna, this album is a blend/mash-up/remix of Marvin Gaye songs and the album American Gangster from Jay-Z. You mightve caught this track before, it was blazing up hype machine not too long ago. Be sure to pick up this album for free from here.

Jay Z Ft Marvin Gaye - Hello Brooklyn (Chillout Mix) Dj Mick Boogie by Mixes and Mashups #4

Even TheHoodInternet isnt safe from the Jay-Z wave. Last February DJ STV SLV took Pheonix and Hova and introduced us to chill-wave Jay'. Watch out for "bring them horns back". The saxaphone in this song is perfect.

Here is a project thats just surfaced (its not even out till Friday). The Big Band Blueprint is the name of the album being produced by Ritchcraft. There has been a few leaks so far and there is some great shit going on here people. Its definitely an interesting take on Jay, one I am looking forward too.

Lastly and probably the most important we have Danger Mouse's The Grey Album. A blend of The Black Album acapellas from Jay-Z and a shit-tonne of samples from The Beatles White Album. Released in 2004 this was historically an important album. Before music blogs were popular and internet music was at its height, there was a lot of controversy surrounding this because Danger Mouse had used unauthorized Beatles samples and EMI attempted to cease distribution of this album. However this backfired on them causing massive publicity for the album and a closer look at how sampling works. Oh and there was also Grey Tuesday. I could go into more detail and explain it (poorly). Or you could realize its 2010 and just go here. By the way, did I mention the album is fucking incredible?

"What More Can I Say" (Jay-Z vs. The Beatles) - Danger Mouse

There it is, a good starting point to Jay-Z remixes on the internet today. Im going to leave you with 2 tracks that feature Jay-Z that I think people might have slept on. Fuck it they are just really catchy tunes.

"Deprock" (Young Money vs.Javelin) - ABX (The Hood Internet)

First off let me say that I am still a fan of mash-ups. Is it me or have they gotten a bad wrap lately? Tell someone to check out a mash-up and they get all pretentious on your ass, and tell you that they are over and done with that style. Well fuck you because thehoodinternet is still doing it, and going haaaaard. These guys get it. They have the gift of taking a song (that you might even hate) and completely changing how you feel about it. Take for example the song I am about to post, you've all heard it, there was no escaping this song. I am interested to hear what you thought of it before and after hearing this mash-up. In any case, here it is. Enjoy :)

"Ratatouille" (Ratatat, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Ghostface Killah Mash-Up) - maomao

I couldnt find much on this German producer/producers? Whoever they are they know how to mix a song. This song has a great sound but when the eerie chrous comes in and Jay-Z spits over it, it's a perfect combo.
