Colours (Xaphoon Jones Mega Edit) - Grouplove

Xaphoon Jones has released a second edit to his remix of Colours by Grouplove. Something about the frist remix didn't quite do it for me but man does this mega edit hit me right where I need it. Its perfectly understated while still managing to bring the noise so you dont sleep on it. This song is a great addition to your party, road trip, chill session & snowboarding playlists. Hey its December can't a guy want to hit the slopes. Enjoy

Childs Play: Childish Gambino Profile.

I've been meaning to make this post for a while. He is currently my favorite "new" artist. You may know him as Donald Glover from his work on 30 Rock, Community, Mystery Team, or his Youtube work with "Derrick Comedy". The actor/rapper/comedian/writer/movie producer/singer/dj is easily one of the most talented people in show business today.

He has 5 albums, 4 of which can be downloaded for free.

Sick Boi
Poindexter
Culdesac
EP

His 5th album entitled Camp was his first retail release off of the indie record label Glassnote. It released November 15th and received very strong reviews (XL in XXL Magazine, and 4 mics in Source Magazine)

Here's a preview of some of his work off of Camp.

And here's a bonus video that was used to promote "EP".

Secret Weapon (Alex Metric Remix) - The Whip

Well as some of you might know Alex Metric was in Toronto over the weekend to play a show at the newest and hotest place to feature electro show's The Hoxton which if im not mistaken is at least partially owned by non other than Kenny Hotz of Kenny vs Spenny fame. Ill be writing a bigger review of the Hoxton and Alex Metric soon but I just had to get this song out to you guys ASAP. Its a new remix and I must say its quite a banger once you hit 2 minutes in you will see what i'm talking about.

Aaliyah - It's been a decade

Hard to believe she passed over a decade ago. I honestly believe if she was alive Beyonce wouldn't be Beyonce. Let's take time to remember her.

Drive International Trailer | Nightcall (feat. Lovefoxxx) - Kavinsky

Just watched the new International trailer for Drive, the soon to be released movie starring fellow Canadian Ryan Gosling, and one of my favorite actors, Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston. Lets put it this way even with putting all the existing Cannes hype aside this trailer has me fucking pumped, the icing on the cake was the choice of music near the end of the trailer. I have had a love affair with Nightcall since its release last year, we even featured a remix of Nightcall by Breakbot a while back. Anyway enjoy the trailer and the full song below.

Will do (Mylo Remix) - TV On The Radio

Here is a great remix of TV On The Radios song "Will Do" by none other then Mylo. You may remember Mylo from his smasher "Drop The Pressure"... if not go check it out. He does a great job of not erasing the soul of TOTR track and produces a great upbeat remix which is sure to lift anyones spirit.

"Really you got Baby money" - Jay-Z

So as some of you may or may not know, Birdman CEO of Cash Money Billionaires took offense to a line Jay-Z said on the song "H.A.M." which stated "I’m like really half a billi n-gga, Really you got baby money, Keep it real with n-ggas, N-ggas aint got my lady money." In response he bought a Maybach and flaunted it.

Well I guess Jay-Z saw that video because this is what he did to the same car in his most recent video entitled "Otis" off Watch The Throne.

And finally the funniest part of the video is; in the song Kanye West says the lyric "Maybach bumper sticker read what would Hova do?" Well if you look closely at the torn down Maybach you can see they actually have a bumper sticker that reads "What Would Hova Do?"

So basically YMCMB lost.

Jay-Z X Kanye West - Watch The Throne

First off hey, I'm the new writer. For my first post I figured go big or go home. This is the album that everyone who listens to rap music has been looking forward to since it was announced. Well just watch, listen, enjoy.

The Night Out - Martin Solveig

Man talk about a follow up, first he hits it out of the park with "Hello" ft. Dragonette and now we are graced with the soon to be mega summer anthem "The Night Out". Solveig knows just how to blend upbeat vocals with fast passed electronic goodness. "The Night Out" is truly a tune you can start and end your day with, talk about a smasher.

Kanye West - Mama's Boy

This little number was supposed to be on My Dark Twisted Fantasy, but ended up being a bonus track instead. Then it got cut completely from the album. Why? Probably because it didn't fit with the tone of the album. This one sounds like the old kanye we used to love, back when he was a college dropout. No autotune, just some good old sampling to create the soulful sound that made us like him in the first place. Enjoy.

Best DJ ever?

Let me introduce you to DJ Craze. The only solo DJ ever to win the World DMC Championship three times consecutively. Hope you have a change of pants after this one.

Rolling In Deep (Bullwack Remix) - Adele

First let me give a shout out to Jtokyo and JediK killing it on their posts. Some really great tunes to listen to.  Hopefully this next track will live up to the hype. Adele has been blowing up on blogs lately so i think its only fitting that she is featured a few times on DP this week. Today its in dubstep form, with a great remix by UK producer Bullwack who has only recently emerged on the scene winning a contest with his first remix. Bullwack chose Rolling In Deep which is one of my more loved songs by Adele and i must say he hit this one out of the park. The perfect mix of high's and low's really help this dub song stand out from the rest. Check it!

I see your tracks, and I raise you.

I've been saving it all up for the big DP summer comeback! I'm really digging this new track from Foster the People. Largely following the music trend of late Foster the People sound like a less frenetic version of MGMT mixed with Passion Pit. Their first song to garner attention was Pumped Up Kicks (the remix of it is on the previous post) which was very popular on the radio and prompted alot of excitement and anticipation for their debut album Torches which was just released. This is the first song off that album.

Helena Beat - Foster the People

Young Blood - The Naked and Famous

Never Let Me Go - Chris Reece (feat. Jennifer Needles)

Call My Name (Spencer & Hill Remix) - Sultan & Ned Shepard feat. Nadia Ali

And I'm Back! - Embody (Kavinsky Remix) - SebastiAn

Whats up my peeps. I know, I know its been forever. I hope we havent lost you during the Dirty Physics prohibition, I was chillin with my man Osama but we all know how that turned out. We sure were grooving to some sick electro tracks new and old but like all parties it was time to smell the bacon and get back to business. So without further adieu here is the first track I want you all to sex on. Its a great remix of an amazing song from one of the many heavyweights out of Ed Banger, if you havent listened to the original please go and do so. If you have then feast your ears on this heavy remix by none other than the great Kavinsky. Party On Dudes!

A relative unknown Mord Fustang has been making waves as of late with original tracks popping up all over the net. Diamond Rings

A few years back I had the pleasure of seeing The D'Urbervilles play a small venue in Waterloo, Ontario, which was fronted by a young and relatively unknown John O, a.k.a. Diamond Rings. I was pretty blown away by their music and remember thinking the lead singer's dance moves were...unique. Time passed and I hadn't heard much about them, and then all of a sudden there was a viral video being passed around of this Toronto artist that was pretty dope. John O's solo effort/alter ego; Diamond Rings had emerged. It was in a different direction musically then that of The D'Urbervilles, one that I think is worth checking out. I have enjoyed everything he has been putting out and tonight I saw a new video from him that blew me away enough to finally convince me it was time to showcase this awesome talent here. He has recently been the opening act for Robyn and is receiving high praise from all the internetz music blogs. When it comes to artists who represent Toronto, Diamond Rings has my vote.

Diamond Rings - All Yr Songs

Diamond Rings - Something Else

Diamond Rings - It's Not My Party

Here is his new video for It's Not My Party. Proclaimed the sleeper slow jam hit of the album and probably my favourite single so far.

Boombox Saints

This week I got a lot of emails, so there were a few standouts. One of them comes from Vancouver based hip-hop artists Boombox Saints. They have been making some noise in the scene over on the west side of Canada. The Saints even opened up for Mr. Kid Cudder earlier this year. I got there single from their latest EP Bringin' The Boom Back: Based On A True Story. It's got a real old school vibe. Check it out, ya dig?

The Focussed Distraction

One of the advantages to having a music blog is being sent new songs on a daily basis. So it is my duty to please that booty share it with you when I think it has a good sound. So, on that note, check out Jon McCleod, a.k.a. The Focussed Distraction. Ive included a couple of tracks. One, off of his virgin EP Uno and the other, a Pet Shop Boys cover. Let me know what you think of them.

Stuck On Repeat (Fake Blood Remix) - Little Boots

As a Fake Blood fan I don't quite understand how this song flew under my radar but it did, so I think the only thing I should do is post it on Dirty Physics hoping that I wasn't the only one to missed the train on this track. If you are like me enjoy the sweet sweet love Fake Blood gives your ears. Youtube gives this track no justice trust me just download it

Dancing With The DJ (Jesse Marco Remix) - The Knocks

Jesse Marco, a 22 year old DJ from New York first got his name from deejaying prep school parties around Manhattan. He quickly rose up from obscurity largly thanks to his skills at mixing old with new. His music choices can range from Zeppelin to Lauryn Hill. Which i think really helps him when it comes to appealing to a wide audience. Check him out.

Moment For Life (Monsieur Adi Remix) - Nicki Minaj

Monsieur Adi is someone who always knows how to deliver when it comes to wicked remixes, club bangers or chill tracks. This is definitely not what is was expecting when i saw this Paris-based producer was taking on Nicki, but man am I liking what he has to deliver, a nice light synth tune to help you get through a boring night. Sorry no download link as of yet, just a little too fresh for the internet. Enjoy

"Look" - Sebastien Tellier

Sébastien Tellier - Look from Record Makers on Vimeo.

Whatchyuknow' bout some Tellier? Shiiiettttttt. This video and song combine to create the smoothest combo that ever smoothed in a smoothing disco in a town called smooth. The song compliments the brilliant animation perfectly. This shit will have you hypnotized. Have to give thanks to Lindsday-Linds for sending me this.

"The Wall" (Holtoug Bootleg) - Pink Floyd

Here's a track that caught my attention while sorting through the old inbox. Danish producer/artist Holtoug's take on Pink Floyd's The Wall. Not too much has been added here to this oldie but goodie. However some solid texturing/editing/and subtle additions make for a great update to a great song. Enjoy.
