Keys N Krates

"We invented the remix". - Sean Puffy Combs

Keys N Krates must've taken it personally when Diddy made that claim because what they are doing is taking a big dump on that statement and re-inventing the remix. Look out in 2013 when someone claims to re-reinvent the remix. *Here's hoping that it's Weird Al. So I was put onto these guys a while back from a friend who happened to be doing some audio work at one of their shows. He told me they were incredible and unlike anything he has seen live, they were doing something different. Made up of a live band and a dj, what they essentially do is perform live remixes. I immediately checked them out on youtube and instantly became a fan.

Heres the video that got me:

Since then I have been wanting to see them live and tonight I get the chance. I thought that it might be fitting to do a post on them since I am seeing them tonight and they are from my hometown of Toronto. If you happen to be in Toronto tonight and can spare a second from all the baby eating and cop fighting you people do, this is something you should definitely check out. Here's the details:

Hangover Music

Ever get so drunk that you texted cab companies soliciting sex?...me either. After a long weekend of binge drinking and wandering around a city that has gone mad, one needs to unwind. So when I stopped drinking this Monday Sunday, I found myself needing a break from my normal music tastes. As much as I love to hear electro bangers that are meant to destroy your organs from the inside out with bass, this is usually not a good idea when nursing the worst headache of your life. Sooo I decided to dig through the collection and pull out some mellow ones to relax too. There are tracks that wouldn't normally be posted on here, some old, some new and hopefully you haven't heard most of em'. Here is the playlist I came up with:

1. "Turn Smile Shift Repeat" - Phantom Planet

2. "Glory Box" - Portishead

3. "GfC" - Albert Hammond Jr.

4. "Skinny Love" - Bon Iver

Blaow!! Here comes Boemklatsch

Get ready to have your faces melted. I tried doing some research on them but they explain themselves way better than I could. Here's an excerpt from an email I received from them:

"The last years have been a rollercoaster ride for these guys. They’ve started producing and putting out their own records. They started up their own label BMKLTSCH RCRDS, and signed international stars like the Mightyfools as well as upcoming talent like Baskerville, RipTidE and Dem Slackers. They put out two mix-CD’s album ‘Mixing in Action’ and “DUMDUM Genetics #1” which both sold out in no time. They also released an EP on Lektroluv and are doing remixes for major artists like Seymour Bits, Shameboy and Gorrilla's".

So now that you know what they're all about...

Get ready for RipTidE to bring the fuckin' heat. The FireLeaF EP: 4 tracks, 2 remixes and a B-Side. FireLeaF by itself is a dancefloor destroyer but the remixes are crazy dope. This is one to pick up people. Best part is you get to preview it here. Even better part, you get to keep 2 of em'.

A1: RipTidE - Fireleaf

A2: RipTidE - Fireleaf (Clashes Remix)

Download

A3: RipTidE - Fireleaf (Hidden Cat Remix)

B1: RipTidE - Fk Me

Next up we have the Working Title EP

Working Title is the new EP for the single from Dem Slackers and Fake ID. Featuring a remix from 3 is a Crowd and even a Boemklatsch themselves, the track takes on 3 completely different sounds with each one bringing something different to the table. Personally I think the original stands out on its own, but thats why I have them all here for you to decide. Download the whole EP from mediafire here.

A1: Dem Slackers & Fake ID - Working Title

A2: Dem Slackers & Fake ID - Working Title (3 Is A Crowd remix)

A3: Dem Slackers & Fake ID - Working Title (Boemklatsch remix)

Lastly, we have some remixes from the boys themselves.

Starting out as a hip-hop crew, Boemklatsch are making waves with their massive parties and more recently their remixes and own record label. Consisting of 3 dj's, 1 host, and 2 vj's. These guys are about to blow. Just remember who said that first. Heres a couple of remixes they sent over.

"First one is from the new Shameboy EP called 'Vultures' which gonna be released on East Records/NEWS 21th of June"

"The second one is a remix from upcoming talents 'Slap In The Bass'. They're releasing an EP on Wearehouse soon." Boemklatsch hooked up with Dem Slackers to produce this banger.

Through The Night - Grum

Here is another great song by Grum. Its an interesting mix of a song one one hand its the type of song you can listen to on those chill nights, on the other hand if you have some people over and your looking to get your party on this song transforms itself into the party track you have always wanted. For anyone interested Grum is going to be playing Wrongbar in Toronto July 24th I know I'm going to be there along with some of the other Dirty Physics bloggers.

"Octobers Very Cold" - Drake vs Coldplay

Well as you may or may not know, Drake's debut album So Far Gone was one of the biggest if not the biggest album of last year. It was an instant classic and since then Drake has become one of the biggest commodities in hip-hop today. With the release of his new album Thank Me Later, there has been a lot of Drake activity on the blogs. I wanted to do a post on here with some of the leaks but figured it would just get taken down. However instead I bring you October's Very Cold. In the spirit of the Grey Album, it is a mash-up album of strictly Coldplay and Drake. Produced by Chi Duly this is definitely one to pick up.

Track 2: Trouble's Over

Track 3: Lose Your Love

Track 9: The Fly Scientist feat. Page & Silver Medallion

There is no download links because you can pick up the entire album for free from October's Very Cold

Come Back Clean (Kaskade Extended Remix) - The Crystal Method (Feat. Emily Haines)

The title of this track alone sells itself. Each of the names in this song are capable of making great music, lets see what happens if we mash them together...

Download

It seems our Canadian female leads are dominating the techno vocals these days with Tegan & Sara and Emily Haines collaborating with the likes of Tiesto on his newest album.

"Two of You" - Holiday For Strings

I've been meaning to post this track for a while now. The first single from Swedish band Holiday For Strings upcoming album Favourite Flavor. Comprised of members from bands such as Thieves Like Us, Peter Bjorn and John and The 3 Chefs, Two of You will take you by surprise. It took me a few times listening to this song to fully appreciate it. Man oh man I am glad I did though, what a hypnotic bassline in this song! The bassline is what got me hooked on this track and I cannot wait to see some more remixes of this song.

Faxing Berlin (Grifta Dubstep Remix) - Deadmau5

I had the pleasure of listening to this song on a friends XM radio while driving home from my cottage this past weekend. I didnt know who did the remix at the time but I knew I just needed to find out and share with everyone. Grifta did it with this one, its on constant replay on my iPhone not to mention my goto track when im listening to music with some Beats by Dr Dre. This track really is a fucking banger compared to the original so check it out.
