The Electric Dream - Mord Fustang

A relative unknown Mord Fustang has been making waves as of late with original tracks popping up all over the net. He first hit my radar with a few dubstep remixes that tickled my fancy but now that im hearing some original material I'm in love. Keep it up Mord Fustang, my weekends need their soundtracks.

Diamond Rings

A few years back I had the pleasure of seeing The D'Urbervilles play a small venue in Waterloo, Ontario, which was fronted by a young and relatively unknown John O, a.k.a. Diamond Rings. I was pretty blown away by their music and remember thinking the lead singer's dance moves were...unique. Time passed and I hadn't heard much about them, and then all of a sudden there was a viral video being passed around of this Toronto artist that was pretty dope. John O's solo effort/alter ego; Diamond Rings had emerged. It was in a different direction musically then that of The D'Urbervilles, one that I think is worth checking out. I have enjoyed everything he has been putting out and tonight I saw a new video from him that blew me away enough to finally convince me it was time to showcase this awesome talent here. He has recently been the opening act for Robyn and is receiving high praise from all the internetz music blogs. When it comes to artists who represent Toronto, Diamond Rings has my vote.

Here is his new video for It's Not My Party. Proclaimed the sleeper slow jam hit of the album and probably my favourite single so far.

Boombox Saints

This week I got a lot of emails, so there were a few standouts. One of them comes from Vancouver based hip-hop artists Boombox Saints. They have been making some noise in the scene over on the west side of Canada. The Saints even opened up for Mr. Kid Cudder earlier this year. I got there single from their latest EP Bringin' The Boom Back: Based On A True Story. It's got a real old school vibe. Check it out, ya dig?

The Focussed Distraction

One of the advantages to having a music blog is being sent new songs on a daily basis. So it is my duty to please that booty share it with you when I think it has a good sound. So, on that note, check out Jon McCleod, a.k.a. The Focussed Distraction. Ive included a couple of tracks. One, off of his virgin EP Uno and the other, a Pet Shop Boys cover. Let me know what you think of them.
